Our customer's 15.4 metre stroke hydraulic cylinder, used in the production of super alloys in our home city of Sheffield, was desperately in need of repair.
The chrome plated piston rod (all 18.4 metres of it!) was damaged beyond repair and had to be replaced and the cylinder bore was worn so we honed that in house. No easy task – but with the Shepcote Engineering know how, workshop facilities and the usual Shepcote team work, the job was completed on time and the customer up and running with minimum delays to production.
Specialising in large cylinders as we do we see some large cylinders and this is the longest we have had come through our workshops. It must be one of the longest hydraulic cylinders currently in use in the UK but if you know of a longer one please let us know.
