Winning team for the European Airbus Project
Shepcote Engineering won the contract to design and manufacture a special lifting system comprising of six hydraulically operated lifting masts, used to lift sections of the airframe for the A380 European Airbus Project.
The masts were fitted to the hull of the purpose-built transport vessel the ’Afon Dyfrdwy’ and are designed to accept the 13m wide, 45m long, 196 tonne wing sections. The wing is lowered into the ships hull by the masts to enable the barge to clear the low bridges spanning the route along the River Dee to the Port of Mostyn in North Wales.
Harwich Linkspan Cylinder Project
Shepcote Engineering beat off stiff competition to design and build a replacement hydraulic cylinder and also to repair the existing cylinders for the commercial linkspan at Harwich International Port.
Cylinder specifications:
- Piston rod dia: 250 mm
- Cylinder bore: 400 mm
- Stroke: 9.290 mm
- Weight: 10 tonnes
